Priest

A priest is a small club or club-like tool to humanely kill fish that are to be taken. It is allegedly called a priest because it "administers the last rites"... Most priest either consist of a metal (brass) head, connected by a stem to a handle, or alternatively are made of a more or less level piece of wood or staghorn, usually weighted internally.

I've made a couple of priests from a section of discarded bamboo rod given to me by Len Gorney. For this one, from the only remaining piece of bamboo I had, I had a brass head made by the workshop at Utrecht University, while I still was a researcher there. The handle is made form rod grip cork rings, shaped on a home made grip lathe.
